Most classic shonen love interests only really serve the overall plot through romance or as a damsel-in-distress. Newer anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and Spy x Family have more complex female deuteragonists. Yor Forger is a nurturing and patient mother, a devoted wife, and a brutal, capable assassin.

Yor may have a soft, hesitant personality and some insecurities, but that doesn't stop her from winning impossible battles and charming everyone around her. She didn't expect to become a mother overnight, but she rises to the occasion, loving Anya with her whole heart. And though Loid is meant to be her fake husband, she's intent on being a good partner.

10 Yor's Introduction Sets The Tone For Her Character

Yor has a complex personality. In her day-to-day life, she's sweet, bashful, and incredibly respectful. She may be a bit unsure of herself in the office, but she knows exactly what she's doing when she moonlights as an assassin, Thorn Princess.

Yor doesn't try to curb her menace when she finds her mark as an assassin. She doesn't need to be subtle when she can take out a room full of criminals with a few kicks and blade throws. Yor takes pride in her work, fighting with balletic grace in her elegant black getup.

9 Yor Strikes An Enemy Down Through A Door

Yor and Olka are just about to relax for the day when someone posing as room service knocks on the door. Yor's immediately on alert. She leaps into action the second that the assassin fires through the door, trying to get to Olka and her son.

Yor may be an assassin, but she looks after Olka and her baby like a do-gooder superhero. Once she has Olka and her son out of the way, she strikes back at the assassin, wasting no time. Yor throws her golden dart through the door blind, felling the assassin in one throw.

8 Yor Defeats Nightfall

Loid Forger's spy protege, Nightfall, is very proprietary about him. She fancies herself as the one who is closest to a man who lives in one disguise after another. Nightfall feels immediately threatened by Yor, though.

Nightfall sees that Loid's emotions are different around Yor, which interrupts her fantasies about riding off into the sunset one day with Twilight. Yor doesn't take Nightfall's rudeness lying down, though. When Nightfall and Yor fight via tennis, it seems like there's more at stake than just points in a game. Yor takes on the challenge with alacrity, grinding Nightfall's overblown pride into the ground.

7 Yor Bonds with Olka Over Motherhood

Yor and Olka may live completely different lives and have different goals, but being mothers unites them. Yor's nervous because Olka and her baby feel cooped up and wish to spend some time on the deck of the ship. Olka insists they go, and the two mothers share a heart-to-heart as they look out at the ocean.

Motherhood comes with great and equal measures of responsibility, joy, and worry. Both Olka and Yor worry about their children's safety and their future. It's a nice moment where Yor can speak to someone who understands exactly what she's going through raising a child and stepping into a new life role.

6 Yor Saves Anya & Bond

Anya deserves a present for doing so well in school, and it's important to recognize her efforts and keep her motivated. Loid would prefer to kill two birds with one stone and wants to get the family a guard dog, but little Anya falls in love with a dog that could pass for a small polar bear. The dog Bond is psychic and he comes with his own set of complications.

Yor steps away from Anya in the pet store, and Anya immediately gets embroiled in some trouble. Luckily, Bond is savvy and he protects Anya. Two criminals chase after Anya and Bond, and Anya directs him to go back to Yor, knowing that her mother will protect them. And Yor does, smacking the criminals around with ease. She kicks one of them so hard that he ricochets back and forth off the alleyway walls.

5 Yor Gets Drunk & Fights Loid

Yor gets pretty tipsy during the castle spy games. She plays at being the final boss for Loid, the witch Yorticia. Loid understandably underestimates the staggering Yor as she approaches him with a drunken thousand-yard stare.

Yor's assassin reflexes kick in when the fight starts. The alcohol lowers her inhibitions, and she forgets that she should pull her punches as a regular civilian. She whops Loid with ease, slurring her vengeful threats. It's hilarious to watch Loid scramble to defend himself, begging her to chill out. He's totally stunned that Yor has such skills, especially when she's drunk. She only "loses" the fight because she trips and falls asleep.

4 Yor Tries To Hide Her Injury From Loid

Yor is normally the picture of composure. Her hair is always put up neatly, her outfits are smart and fashionable. But one day, she comes home with an injury — she got shot in the rear during one of her assassin assignments.

Yor needs to hide the injury because there's no normal explanation for a gunshot. She tries valiantly to keep her composure, but her face goes comically sour as she bites back her immense pain. The episode is a hilarious comedy of errors as Yor tries to keep her pain under control and Loid tries to figure out why she's so "upset." Oddly enough, imbibing blowfish poison helps Yor out.

3 Yor Smashes Pumpkins

Yor's assassin work may be treacherous, but she never tolerates her daughter Anya being in danger. She has incredibly sharp instincts and whenever Anya is in trouble, it's never for long. When kidnappers try to take Anya, Yor drops everything to ensure her safety.

Yor is a creative fighter; she doesn't need her sharp, lethal darts to win a fight. She is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant. When one of the kidnappers tries to hit Yor with a pumpkin, Yor smashes it with her bare hands, protecting herself and psyching out the assailant. Yor goes full berserker mode protecting Anya, only to immediately worry that she's setting a bad example for her little daughter. Anya is proud of her fierce mother, though.

2 Yor Saves Loid & Anya From Some Cows

Eden Academy's headmaster tests prospective students and their parents with some creative challenges. The entire Forger family is on alert the second they step on campus, knowing that they're being tested. Luckily, the Headmaster finds the Forger parents to be quite elegant.

At one point during the trials, a herd of cows is accidentally unleashed on unsuspecting bystanders. Loid saves a little boy from the cows, nearly getting stuck in the stampede, himself. Yor is right there to neutralize the charging animal, knocking it out with a few elegant pressure point taps. No one stampedes her fake husband on her watch.

1 Yor Wins Against Many Renowned Assassins

Yor spends nearly all of Season 2 protecting Olka and her son from assassins. Up until now, Yor can defeat a room full of criminals with ease. But in the Season 2 finale, she shows down with dozens of powerful assassins.

The assassins challenge Yor like she's never been challenged before. At one point, she loses all her weapons, fighting with only her fists and powerful kicks. She's not sure if she'll survive the night — no one else would. Thankfully, she gets a couple of key assists, including help from Anya. It takes all of her strength, but Yor plows through the last of the assassins, preserving the small family's lives.
