For leaders and employers in and around St Neots, I have a gift for you. We have funded 200 people to go through STOP Suicide training in September. As you may be aware, Shifties has been working closely with CPSL Mind, raising funds and spreading awareness during the impactful 24-hour Speak Up Liveathon. Now, we are taking our commitment to mental health advocacy a step further. With the funds raised during the 2023 Liveathon, we are pleased to offer free STOP Suicide training to 200 individuals in St Neots. The aim of this training is to provide an overview of how to identify a person at risk of suicide and equip you to support that individual to stay safe.I am not sure how you could measure the impact of this down the line, but I'm certain more people in our town that have this training, especially in the workplace, will absolutely save lives! If you could spread the word to your network and employees that would be really helpful. 🙏https://lnkd.in/e2rExN86 #mentalhealthawareness #mentalfitness #stneots

This week is Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, with the theme "My Voice Matters", encouraging children and young people to feel confident they can express themselves. As data released by the NHS evidences that children's emergency mental health referrals in England soar by 53% with more than 600 children a week deteriorating to such a state that they have reached crisis point. An analysis of official data by the Royal College of Psychiatrists shows that many of the children requiring emergency care – some suicidal or seriously ill as a result of eating disorders – have been stuck on waiting lists for an average of five months, and in the worst cases as long as two years. We need to do more.We receive referrals from the NHS, schools, other charities and parents of children who struggle through each day. Your support can enable children to overcome the hurdles they face and gain a new perspective. Build their self-esteem, teach new skills, forge friendships and have someone there to listen and to help them to express themselves.Together we can change the lives of children with complex needs. Thank you for your support. #adventuretherapy #charity #changinglives #childrensmentalhealthawareness #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek

Had a very powerful morning at this mornings #batonofhopeuk breakfast.Suicide is a topic that we don't talk about enough. It is the biggest killer of under 35s in the UK. Every person has likely been touched by it and 1/5th of us have considered it at some point - but we don't talk about it. That reluctance to discuss is the thing that may stop someone who could be helped from talking. And by talking more about it, we can all break the taboo. As well as the stories from Mike McCarthy, Jonny Benjamin MBE, Neil Laybourn and Leon Taylor, I found Rose Rowkins 3 min/ 5 stage intro to how you can potentially save a life really useful. It was (hopefully getting this right!):1. Ignore the fears that may stop you from acting - if someone is at a critical point where they need your help, you're not going to make it worse.2. Trust your gut - if it feels that someone may need help, then they may indeed need help.3. Ask the question - be direct and ask if someone is thinking about self harm. This honesty in facing the difficult words opens the door to a conversation.4. Listen - if the answer is yes, then listen to what they have to say.5. Limits - be honest about your limits and how much you can help.HOPE - Hold On, Pain Ends.

Utah businesses can become part of helping our communities rise to thrive, especially when it comes to the children who become students and employees in our state. Child abuse impacts 1 in 7 children and can lead to a series of mental and physical health challenges like; decreased physical health, depression, anxiety, PTSD, cognitive delay, suicidal tendencies and eating disorders. If left unaddressed, outcomes of abuse can follow young adults as they enter into the workforce. We encourage our local businesses to get involved in better understanding the implications of abuse on their employees. Becoming familiar with all the different forms of child abuse, knowing where to find the awareness resources available and working with the organizations that serve child victims of crime, is pivotal for positive impact. Join us in a learning opportunity on Feb. 13 by attending the webinar below to learn more about a topic that impacts everyone in our community. https://lnkd.in/dfzKEJQX#corporateresponsibility #corporateintegrity #childabuseawareness #nonprofit #fundraising #emotionalabuse #saltlakecounty
