Whisk all ingredients in a small bowl. Store, refrigerated, in an airtight glass jar up to 1 month.
To make Ranch Dressing:

How Long Does This Ranch Seasoning Last?
Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix is shelf-stable for up to 3 months, depending on the age of your dried herbs and spices. In other words, the fresher the herbs and spices that you use in your mix, the longer it will last.
Top Recipe Tips
The finer textured ingredients in the mix – like the salt and garlic – generally settlesto the bottom of the bottle. To make sure that my mix stays mixed consistently, I add all of the ingredients into myspice grinderand pulse about five times to make it more consistent. You can also use a food processor or blender if you don’t have spice grinder handy.

We energized the magical Ranch blend of buttermilk, garlic and onion flavors with a heavy dose of mild chilies and red peppers. It's undeniable decadence in one dry mix packet, ready for you to make all the delectable dishes you crave.
The difference comes in what you combine the seasoning mix with to make either a dip or dressing. Ranch dressing is typically made with milk and mayo, while ranch dip is typically made with sour cream.
Most of the dry ranch seasoning mix ingredients are simple and likely already found in your pantry. Onion powder, onion flakes, dill, parsley, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and dried chives give this delicious seasoning mix its flavor!
It is buttermilk, mayo, and 1 Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Packet. That is it. I do the exact measurements on the packet which is 1 cup buttermilk, 1 cup mayo, to 1 packet of the ranch. Stir and enjoy!
It's all about what texture you're going for. Use the dip mix if you prefer a thicker dressing, or the pourable dressing as dip if you prefer a smoother, creamier texture.
The ranch packet has a fresher taste, because you add your own mayo and milk. Even though all the herbs and spices in the mix are dried, they rehydrate quickly and leave you with a product that feels homemade. This version of Hidden Valley Ranch is more flavorful than the bottled version and much, much thicker.
Clorox reformulated the Hidden Valley Ranch dressing several times to make it more convenient for consumers, including adding buttermilk flavoring to the seasoning, allowing the dressing to be made using much less expensive regular milk.
Scratch ranch relies on fresh herbs and aromatics, which bring bite and those pops of grassy flavor that dried or powdered versions never can, so you get an eating experience that is elevated. Usually, ranch recipes will contain fresh buttermilk, and sometimes sour cream as well, for a tang that is really balanced.
It tastes like its ingredients. It's a cream based dressing, so should be creamy of course. Basically, the base of the flavor should be a tang of buttermilk(or sour cream), then hints of the rest of its ingredients. Those should be salt, garlic, onion, chives, mustard, dill, parsley.
What makes ranch ranch? It's a combination of creaminess (from buttermilk, sour cream, sometimes mayonnaise) and herbaceousness (often parsley, thyme, dill), plus a long pull of allium (onion and garlic) and a shot of black pepper.
It's so quick, simple, inexpensive, and tastes way better than bottled store-bought dressings or dry packet mixes. This recipe works great as a buttermilk ranch salad dressing or as a ranch dip for veggies and Buffalo Chicken Wings. If you love the flavor of restaurant ranch, this homemade ranch dressing is a must-try.
But if you are substituting the dressing for the packet in a recipe, that will not work as they are not interchangeable. If you use the dressing, you will also need to remove a cup of fat (oil, butter, shortening, etc) from the recipe.
Two tablespoons of dry measure is equivalent to ⅛ cup which is one ounce and is equal to 28.3 grams. The answer is 2 Tablespoons! On the bottle of dry mix that I have right now, it says that 3 Tablespoons equals a 1 ounce packet of dressing mix.
There are 2 tablespoons of ranch seasoning in one packet of ranch seasoning mix. So if a recipe calls for a packet of ranch seasoning all you have to do is measure out 2 tablespoons and add it into the recipe instead of using the packet.
