I’m making five budget-friendly biscuit dough recipe ideas using items you can find at Dollar Tree or Walmart. These recipes with biscuit dough make a fun and filling breakfast or lunch for busy days. I made all of these recipes at once on a baking sheet so I could eat them throughout the week.
Note that all recipes should bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. In the end, I will show you the baking sheet with all the goodies on them before baking, adding the wash, and then the results.

Ingredients for the biscuit dough recipes
Ingredients
Here are all the ingredients necessary to make all five of these recipes. I’ve broken down specific amounts in each recipe. I also cooked and drained the entire package of ground sausage to use for all of the recipes.
Here’s the general list:
- Ground sausage
- 6 eggs
- 4 slices cheese
- Shredded cheese (mozzarella)
- 1-2 cans of biscuit dough
- 1 package of gravy mix
- 1 package of frozen peppers
- 1 bottle of barbeque sauce of your choice
- 1 can tuna
- 1 can diced tomatoes
Making an egg wash

I also brushed all the biscuits with an egg wash to help them brown before baking. Crack an egg in a bowl and scramble it up using a fork,
1. Barbeque bombs
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons cooked sausage
- 2 tablespoons barbeque sauce
- 2 biscuits
Cooking the sausage
a) Cook the sausage
Cook the sausage on the stovetop and drain. (You will use this cooked and drained sausage for all the recipes below.)
Adding barbeque sauce
b) Flatten each biscuit
Place 1 heaping tablespoon of cooked sausage and 1 teaspoon ofbarbeque sauce in the middle of the flattened biscuit.
Folding over the dough
c) Fold over
Press the edges to seal, and crimp the edges.
Cutting the dough
d) Put bombs on a baking sheet
Add vertical slices on the side to allow steam to escape. Add an egg wash, then bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Here’s one bomb done, but you’ll see the rest of the dough meals done below.
2. Pizza pretzels
Ingredients:
Note that this is one of my slight fails. The first time I made it, the moisture made the dough soggy, so I tweaked the recipe.
- 2 biscuits
- 1 tablespoon chopped canned tomatoes in sauce
- 2 tablespoons shredded mozzarella
- 1 tablespoon cooked sausage
- 1 tablespoon peppers and onions chopped
- 1 tablespoon flour (optional, but helps keep the dough from sticking when rolling)
Flattening the biscuit dough
a) Flour your surface
Roll and flatten out each biscuit into a long line.
Topping the pizza
b) Top and dab
Top with well-drained sausage, tomatoes, and peppers (use a paper towel to dab excess moisture).
Wrapping the edges of the dough
c) Wrap
Wrap the edges of the dough to encase the ingredients like a stuffed crust pizza.
Twisting the pizza pretzels
d) Twist
Twist each roll into a pretzel design or any design of your choosing. Add an egg wash, then bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes until golden brown.
3. Sausage & gravy boats
Ingredients:
- 2 heaping tablespoons of cooked sausage
- 1 tablespoon dry sausage gravy mix
- ⅓ cup water at room temperature
- 2 biscuits
Cooking the meat with dry gravy mix
a) Heat meat
Heat the already cooked and drained sausage and mix in the dry gravy mix, stirring frequently so the meat is coated.
Making the gravy
b) Make gravy
Add the water and continue stirring until the gravy thickens to desired consistency. The water will reduce, as well.
Indenting the dough
c) Indent the dough
Transfer biscuits to your baking sheet, and flatten the center of each biscuit (not the edges) to make a "boat" for the sausage gravy mixture.

d) Top biscuits
Add 1 to 2 heaping tablespoons of the sausage and gravy mixture to each middle. Add an egg wash, then bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes until golden brown.
4. Breakfast bites
Ingredients:
- 1 scrambled egg
- 2 biscuits
- 2 tablespoons cooked sausage
- 1 slice of American cheese
Cooking the sausage and egg
a) Cook sausage and egg
Put cooked and drained sausage in a pan. Add an egg to the pan next to the meat and mix.
Flattening the biscuit dough
b) Flour and flatten
Flour your surface and lay a biscuit down, then cut it into four pieces, and flatten out each piece.
Topping with cheese
c) Add the mixture
Scoop 1 teaspoon of the egg and sausage mixture onto each piece and place a small piece of the American cheese on top.
Wrapping the dough
d) Wrap and bake
Wrap the dough around, sealing the ingredients inside. Add an egg wash, then bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes until golden brown.
5. Tuna twists
Ingredients:
- 2 biscuits
- 1 slice of American cheese
- 2 tablespoons tuna
- 2 tablespoons canned tomatoes in sauce, chopped
Adding tuna to the top of the biscuit
a) Flatten and fill
Flatten and roll your biscuit into a rectangle. Then place 1 heaping tablespoon of drained tuna from a can and chopped tomatoes and spread on top, using a paper towel to dab excess moisture.
Adding cheese
b) Add cheese
Add part of a slice of cheese to each twist.
Twisting the tuna roll, ready to bake
c) Twist and bake
Then twist each rectangle, and stuff any pieces of filling that fall out back inside. Add an egg wash, then bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Biscuit dough recipe ideas
After baking
These biscuit dough meals look delicious when they come out of the oven. I only used a fraction of the ingredients for these biscuits so you’ll have plenty more to make at least another batch of dough. Everything pulls apart beautifully.
