Why grapefruit goes so well in salad
Grapefruit is one of my favourite citrus fruits to include in salads. It is typically not quite as sweet as citrus like mandarin oranges or oranges. The slightly tart or bitter flavour of grapefruit can add a delicious contrast to other salad ingredients. Grapefruit slices or segments can also add wonderful colour and visual interest to a salad. Choose from grapefruit varieties in shades of yellow, pink and red, each with its own distinct colour and flavour.
Preparing grapefruit for salads
We love using homegrown or organic grapefruit in our recipes. Most grapefruit salad recipes use peeled grapefruit, but you should still carefully wash the fruit before you cut it. If you are using store bought citrus you may wish to remove any fruit wax first.
